Therapy in Motion Lab: Foundations
Faculty: Andrea Juhan and Zuza Engler
A foundational program for therapy professionals introducing the theoretical grounding and basic practices of Therapy in Motion. It is designed for therapists who would like to integrate movement and conscious dance into therapeutic settings in the work they do with individual clients or small groups.
In Therapy in Motion we place the moving body at the center of the therapeutic process. We integrate relational approaches, attachment theory and practice, trauma work, emotions and cognition into an embodied movement exploration for richer therapeutic outcomes.
The Lab introduces some of the core movement resources of Open Floor practice. Therapists learn skills for tracking sensations, impulses, movements, and cycles of activation and settling that naturally occur in the body to support the clients’ experience and healing process.
Therapists will experience how embodiment practice can support the refining of personal narrative in the process of integration.
This course meets the qualifications for 15 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCCs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Zuza Engler, Ph.D. is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education programs for MFT, LCSW, and LPCC and maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
