“I have never seen anyone who took a huge risk for growth that was not rewarded 10000 times.” - John O’Donohue
To encounter someone, something or someplace implies that it’s unexpected or a surprise. To encounter the moment means to be face-to-face with the unknown. In movement practice, we train ourselves to stay open, curious, centered and responsive at the front edge of any Encounter, counter balancing our innate primal reaction to fight, flee, freeze or please.
Rather than withdrawing, playing it safe or letting things that we are not ok with roll by, imagine a world where we all could be adept at being present and standing our ground clearly and authentically. A world where we are able to express opinions, feelings, discontent, and appreciation skillfully, while remaining wholeheartedly open to outcome and change.
In this workshop, within a supportive and challenging environment, we will create a ‘safe emergency’ –a situation intense enough to get our attention and with enough support that we can risk moving beyond our habitual patterns. We can get real feedback and plenty of practice making new choices in relation to others.
